ABOUT THE JOB

This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Recreation Division, Athletic Branch, Naval Support Activity Bahrain. The position promotes fitness and recreation water activities for assigned military personal and family members. The primary function of this position is to serve as a lifeguard and perform other related swimming facility duties efficiently and safely according to regulations. Performs lifeguard duties to ensure the safety of all swimmers within assigned swimming facility. Continuously observes and monitors the condition and behavior of swimmers for potential problems. Rescues and to injuries. Uses a variety of techniques such as artificial respiration, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and first aid. Notifies emergency medical services (EMS) and/or other appropriate personnel for more serious accidents/ injuries. Instructs, Cautions, and/or expels patrons as appropriate. Checks and monitors all customers for valid pool passes and collects fees or retail aquatic sales, if applicable. Verifies that all internal control forms and records are completed accurately. Understands pool operation and maintenance procedures in the area of proper chlorine and PH levels, air and water temperature and cleanliness. Accurately checks and documents pool chemistry according to established procedures to ensure chemical balances and facility cleanliness is maintained. Opens and inspects facilities at the beginning of the day and closes and secures facilities at the end of the day.

BG-05: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of General experience And/ OR Education: 1 year above high school with course
(s) related to the occupation, if required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Applicant must be able to speak, read, write and understand English fluently.
- Applicant must be 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Applicants other than Bahraini/Arab Nationals must be registered in LMRA.
- Applicants whose sponsors are exempted from LMRA should provide valid proof of exemption.
- A Current Good Conduct Certificate dated within 3 months of this announcement will be requested at the time of Job Offer.
- VISA, PASSPORT, AND CPR MUST BE VALID FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS AT APPLICATION RECEIPT DATE.
- Requires pre-employment screening for swimming ability, rescue skills, and CPR skills.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for professional rescuer, Basis First Aid, and lifeguarding training certification within 90 days of employment.
- Physical exertion required in effecting a swimming rescue.
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 45 pounds.
- Most of the time is spent sitting, standing, or walking; however, bending, lifting, pushing, kneeling, or reaching is required.
- Lifeguard duties are performed in and around the outdoor pool area. Involves long periods of exposure to sun, dust, chlorinated water and extreme desert temperatures.
- Position requires pre-employment screening for swimming ability, rescue skills, and CPR skills.
- If position is identified as having “regular contact with children” (e.g., youth swim lessons instructor) in accordance with public law, a criminal background check must be completed.
