ABOUT THE JOB
This position is located within the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Recreation Division at Naval Support Activity Bahrain. The purpose of the position is to serve as the Recreation Aid working at the Gymnasium and Fitness Center. The incumbent of this position serves as a Recreation Aid carrying out an established gym program to include the Bowling Center, Laundry Mat, Gym, Snack Bar, Gear Locker, and Fitness Center. Provides guidance and instructions to individuals and groups in the proper use and technique of physical fitness equipment, bowling, and MWR issued equipment. Monitors changes and makes recommendations on changing the program of instructions for use of the equipment and supplies to the patron. Assist with the setup and preparation of clinics, classes, and tournaments in basketball, volleyball, tennis, racquetball, aerobics, sand soccer and weight lifting. Follows established schedules and reservations designed to avoid equipment, facility usage conflicts. Assists the Recreation Director and Athletic Director with setting up and operating special events programs, ladder and or challenge type sports activities events. Assists in the preparation and arranging equipment and assuring supplies are available in all areas of the programs, sports competitions and special events. Responsible for safety of equipment in assigned areas. Post sports schedules or daily facility coordination provides timely preparation of playing fields. Preparation includes policing and cleaning up facilities, equipment and supplies. Checks identification of personnel to assure eligibility for use of the facility and equipment. Issues and receives equipment to and from the patrons. Inventories equipment and supplies. Maintains change fund, prepares Daily Activity Reports, operates a cash register and sells resale items. Notifies supervisor of broken, malfunctioning, unusable and or shortage of equipment. Prepares basic recurring reports (i.e. hourly, daily and weekly attendance and participation). Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/EVALUATION REQUIREMENTS
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
BG-05: General Experience: Six (6) Months. AND/OR EDUCATION: 1 year above high school.
General Experience – Progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Position may require irregular working hours when special events occur.
