INTRODUCTION
This position is located in the EURAFSWA Region, Fleet and Family Readiness Program, Fleet Readiness Department in the Fitness/Sports and Deployed Support Department. The purpose of this position is to provide a comprehensive fitness, sports, and aquatic program for the installation serviced.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible to the coordination and operation of the pools and related facilities. Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the aquatic program including lessons, parties, special events, swim meets, PRT and related activities.
The incumbent is responsible for maintenance of all pools and equipment. Keeps accurate maintenance records and maintains proper water chemistry at all times. Maintains internal controls over all pool related facilities, equipment and fees. Coordinates with other agencies as necessary regarding pool maintenance problems. Ensures maintenance and cleanliness of all facilities and equipment.
Sets daily priorities, assigns projects, and evaluates results. Delegates authority to employees and holds them accountable for the performance of their assigned work performance. Assures employees comply with safety and occupational health standards and EEO directives and philosophy.
Serves as the onsite aquatic authority on committees and other bodies engaged in developing programming designed to improve wellness of the military community.
Prepares and submits input for NAF and APF budgetary requirements, financial reports and justification/support documentation necessary to implement and maintain the fitness programs. Ensures that inventory levels are adequate and operations are consistent with MWR guidelines and standards.
Establishes and maintains internal controls over all aquatic property, equipment and supplies. Maintains all property management records, hand receipt tiles and property location information.
Maintains records and files and is responsible for all aspects of management correspondence. Generates reports as required by higher headquarters and command as necessary. Maintains an up to date library of references and resource materials. Develops revisions, amendments and changes to local standard operating procedures and disposes of files, records and directives that are obsolete.
Supervisory duties include: assigning and prioritizing work, evaluating staff performance, recommending awards/pay adjustments, approving and disapproving leave, interviewing and recommending hire of candidates, support Equal Employment Opportunity mandates and objectives, and initiating corrective and disciplinary actions as appropriate or required.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Must possess experience that enables the employee to completely and independently carry out the aquatic program through proper adaptation of principles, concepts and techniques of swimming operations to the specific needs at hand.
A minimum of one year of documented experience in lifeguarding with a minimum of six months in a leader, supervisory role is required.
Incumbent must possess and maintain certifications for the following: Lifeguard and CPR for Professional Rescuer.
Must be able to obtain the following certifications within the first 6 month s of employment (and maintain throughout the remaining employment): Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor and CPR/AED Profession al Rescuers and Healthcare Providers Instructor (or equivalent).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of a range of activities and services, of interests and needs, and the methods and processes involved in a typical military swimming program which knowledge enables the employee to plan and conduct a variety of swimming activities and services within the framework of navy policy, program policy, and water safety practices.
Skills in adaptation and utilization of such knowledge in planning and carrying out swimming programs as well as a year around swimming program to meet the needs of the military community.
Knowledge and skill to effectively supervise employees and carry out personnel management responsibilities.
Skills in the effective management of financial and physical resources of assigned facilities and of the overall program.
